- Blade Kitten Comic Series Comes to Life for Gamers September 2010 -

New York— June 2, 2010 — Atari, one of the world’s most recognized videogame publishers, announced today that they have acquired the rights to publish Blade Kitten, the videogame based on the comic book series by creator Steve Stamatiadis. Developer Krome Studios brings bounty hunter Kit Ballard to digital life with Blade Kitten which Atari will release this September for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®Network, and Windows PC Download at Atari.com.

“Bringing the anime-inspired universe of Blade Kitten to life via Xbox LIVE Arcade, Playstation®Network and PC Download is sure to resonate with gamers,” says Jim Wilson, President and CEO of Atari, Inc. “With high-quality, colorful arcade action, which translates incredibly from comic book to videogame and a new spin on side-scrolling non-stop action to an already rabid platforming fan base of gamers on XBLA and PSN, we are looking forward to a successful launch.”

Blade Kitten marks the latest creation by Mr. Stamatiadis, who is also the force behind the multi-million selling TY the Tasmanian Tiger series. In Blade Kitten, a prequel to the comics set three years prior, players are invited into the world of Hollow Wish where they take on the role of Kit Ballard, one of the best bounty hunters in the business. With her pink hair and tail, Kit is part cat, part girl - and fully lethal. As one of the last of her species, Kit commands her unique “Darque Blade” hovering sword to defeat enemies. Also along for the ride is Skiffy, Kit’s laid-back sidekick who lends a hand in collecting items, solving puzzles, and when needed, serves as Kit’s protector.

Blade Kitten goes beyond most downloadable titles to deliver a strong narrative, with high-quality cinematics, and a colorful, frenetic visual style, that lends to the pick-up-and-play arcade action. Players will jump right in and easily begin exploring and fighting their way through 19 levels, including three exploration levels with Noot (a rideable alien mount). Blade Kitten also features straight forward gameplay mechanics, intuitive “scramble style” exploration, fully voiced dialogue, dramatic narrative and powerful visual direction.

Voices

So I'm back from a trip to the US to record the voices. Actually I sat around the back of the room while everyone else worked and occasionally chirped in when there were questions or they had missed stuff from the script. Basically I was the backup to make sure we got it all and got it right. With our great voice director and Engineer I had an easy job.

Previously I mentioned that I was really happy with the actors I picked for the voices. I'm pleased to say that they were even better when it came time to read the actual dialog. I've only ever done two weeks of recording voices but in the couple of dozen actors I'd seen work previously they BK group really outshone them. They were a real pleasure to work with too. I've decided that I'm going to HAVE to do another BK game soon just so I get to work with these folks again... for reals.

Oh yeah and there's nothing cooler than hearing words you've made up like "Noink" and "Falterdan" spoken in dialog. Awesome plus!

The team is feverishly working away on the game and it's looking and playing amazing. Those guys and girls astound me every day with their enthusiasm. I absolutly love working with them.

OK that's enough gushing from me. I need to get stuff ready fro the proper BK trailer. In the meantime here's a pic of my real life Skiffy.

Steve posts!

Hey all. I figured it was about time I posted something here since this is the site for you know, my comic and game.

First up, a quick welcome to all the new people reading and welcome back to everyone else. Hope everyone likes the updated version of the comic – it was something I did in the down time when I didn’t have enough brain power to work on new pages back when I was working a certain Star Wars game. Oddly I’m far busier now working on BK but it’s actually 10 times more fun and that’s coming from a huge Star Wars Fan.

So you’re also probably wondering why there’s not much info on the game here yet. It’s coming but making the game takes higher priority. Look for a new trailer, screenshots and info over the next month.

Lastly I’ve completed all the scripts for the all the games spoken dialog and am in Los Angeles to record the voice actors which is pretty exciting. I had to go through around 480 audition tracks to pick out just 7 main characters. There were an awesome number of really great voices to choose from and it was a real challenge to pick out the voices that nailed what I have in my head for the characters. I’ll talk about that more at a later date.

For now though enjoy the comics and please check back again for info on the game.

Hi Guys, What's up?

Hi Guys,

What’s up? Let me introduce myself, my name is Mel and I look after the public relations for Krome. I get to organise interviews, set up stalls at conventions, show off all the awesome games we do and work with all the amazing teams here at Krome!

I hope you all like the new BK site! It was a blast putting it together and I can’t wait to add more details about the game later on this year – I know you are all anxious to see what it’s like.

The team are now only months away from finishing the game and are really excited about it! They have spent some serious hours polishing and developing the game and we will soon be sharing a hot new trailer with you all.

Unlike the teaser trailer which was done early in the project to get the look and feel of what the game would be; this will contain some gameplay and show off the work the team has been doing. You will be able to see Kit in action and get a glimpse of what her world looks like on screen.

We would also love to hear your feedback about the comic and game or if you have any questions please don’t be afraid to head to our forum and have a chat.

Hope to hear from you all soon,

Mel xo
